To support its "Modernism - Designing A New World 1914-1939" exhibition, which ran from April to July this year, the V&A wanted to create a site that significantly raised the bar how museums are using the internet for marketing and communications.

The site which was created by the digital agency unit9, featured information about the exhibition itself and the history of Modernism, as well as links to the online shop where visitors could view and purchase merchandise. It also included highlights of the exhibition and a virtual tour of the space, enabling users to explore each room.

For any visitors who fancied themselves as a bit of an artist, the site enabled them to create their own Modernism poster using a simple interactive tool. Once added to the web gallery, posters could be sent to a friend or printed out. Judges described the interactivity of the site as "enticing".
