The Showcomotion Children’s Media Conference is the UK‘s only event which opens its doors to everyone involved in developing, producing and distributing content to kids. After four successful years mainly serving the television and broadcast- interactive communities, Showcomotion is broadening its scope in 2008 to welcome delegates from children’s film, radio, the games sector, interactive media, and the toy and licensing industries. The conference is offered to all engaged with content aimed at children and young people.
Executive Producer of the Conference, Greg Childs, described this year’s conference as “the world’s first forum dedicated to the creative, strategic and business needs of all the players in the kids’ media market. Previous Showcomotion Conferences have featured speakers from the games and interactive industries and the event has always been future-focused. Now we are exploring the synergies between the various industry sectors, how we can learn from each other and where partnership opportunities might lie. If you’re interested in kids, content, how to get it funded and what makes it great – Showcomotion is the place to be this summer!”
The theme of the conference this year is: Their Space – who fills it, with what, and how?
This audience focus has been the key to Showcomotion’s success year on year. Surveys indicate a high level of appreciation for the conference’s content and organisation – in previous years sessions were rated 94% excellent or good, 96% of delegates said they’d attend again, 77% said they’d started discussions for possible deals and 74% said they found it a good place to do business. Showcomotion is a conference organised “by the industry, for the industry” with an Advisory Committee, drawn from across children’s media and entertainment, setting high standards every year and individual conference sessions produced by volunteers from a variety of media trades. As a result of the industry support, and its unique position as part of the Showcomotion Children’s Film Festival, the Conference can keep its fees low and attract a wide range of delegates each year.
