Inspiring future talent
Companies realise that to attract talented young people into the digital media industry, they need to reach them and inspire them - not just before career choices are made, but before degree courses are chosen.
BIMA is pioneering an innovative approach to bridging the gap between schools and the digital media industry. The key focus of this fresh – and essential – initiative is the BIMA Schools Digital Challenge. This annual competition is held in partnership with key industry organisations, including our main partner, Channel 4.

How the BIMA Schools Digital Challenge works
- The BIMA Schools Digital Challenge is open to students at secondary schools and academies.
- Schools and colleges present entries prepared by of students in response to a creative brief.
- Entries are concept-driven. Designs can be provided as artwork prepared on computers, or teams can take a more advanced approach using interactive technology.
- Groups are also asked to prepare a video diary or a blog of the process they followed from first thoughts to completion.
- Entries are judged by a panel of industry experts.
- The 2010 BIMA Schools Digital Challenge awards will be presented in July and entries displayed at Channel 4 in London. Senior figures from industry, academia and government will be invited.
- Prizes will be awarded to the winning schools.
- Individual prizes are awarded to outstanding individual pupils and teachers on winning teams
