2009 BIMA Schools Digital Challenge
In partnership with other industry organisations, BIMA is promoting an innovative approach to bridging the gap between schools and the digital media industry. The key focus of this fresh, and also essential, initiative is The BIMA Schools Digital Challenge, an annual competition and awards for students aged 13-18.
This year's ceremony was held at the RSA in London.

The BIMA Schools Digital Challenge 2009
We live in a Digital world, whether it’s through using the Internet, mobile phones or even watching TV - it's here and it has immersed itself into the fabric of our society. Like it or not Digital Media is impacting every aspect of our lives whether it’s through social networks like Bebo, Facebook or MySpace, or through professional communities like, for example, TES Connect or Moodle in education.
Digital Media have transformed the way we communicate and co-exist with one another; our environments are also changing and so are the ways we live within them. Digital Media have created new efficiencies in how services are delivered.
However, the Digital era also presents potential threats to members of our world who find these new developments intimidating and may be fearful of the prospects.
Resolving the imbalance between these advantages and disadvantages is of vital importance in everyone’s world today.
The BIMA Schools Digital Challenge 2009, addressed to any team within your school or college, is to come up with a 'Digital' solution that provides a practical benefit for your community. You will need to develop a concept that provides positive outcomes for those around you. We’ve deliberately kept the brief broad to give you scope for imagination but our key aim is to encourage you to combine creativity and technology with real social benefits.
