Hello!
I have 2 new perm roles to brief you on, with a client side organisation based in Liverpool Street. They are looking for 2 user experience designers; one junior / entry level (25-30k), and one more senior (45-55k). These guys make financial trading tools for some of the worlds largest investment banks, and have 2 concurrent projects streams; the central product / platform, and the client specific design, build and delivery projects (more akin to an agency model).
These guys have a really interesting white label trading tool that they have been successfully designing and delivering to investment banking clients for many years. The application comprises analytics tools, bespoke trading process interface, and data visualisation tools, and the design process runs along 2 consecutive streams; central product revisions, and client specific redesign and delivery. There is scope for these two roles to work on both, as the team is small and agile (composed of researchers, UX designers, interaction designers, lots of programmers, and visual designers, working agile).
The process is really good, very rapid and iterative, based on solid research and user access (the company has a number of traders in the business who are a great source of feedback and requirements), lots of sketching and ideation, working hand in hand with the devs to build prototypes as quickly as possible. There is the bare bones of a pattern library in place for a lot of the more fundamental design work, but this is constantly being added to and developed (also part of these roles remit)
Ideally, as this role sits between design and tech very intimately, you would have at least a basic, anecdotal understanding of both, and you must be comfortable with rapidly producing interface and functionality design ideas, ratifying and gathering feedback on these, and working them up into more refined concepts.
Drop me a line if this is of interest. Very few financial services application design roles are open to those without previous experience in that space, so this is a great opportunity to get some.
