As an Application Developer on our busy Technology team in Newcastle you will be responsible for creating websites using the .NET framework. Projects are many and varied – you could be developing new software products, extending the functionality of existing software products or enhancing the user interface of existing products.
You will be a real self-starter with lots of energy and possess strong interpersonal and
communication skills to work with our talented team of developers.
REPORTING TO THE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER YOU’LL NEED TO ENSURE YOU’RE ON TOP OF THE FOLLOWING:
Integrating .NET applications with data sources and front-end development
• Testing work to ensure that all work produced adheres to internal and external development standards
• Working as part of a project team in the development phase of a project
• Supporting the proposal process where required, providing estimations of time to complete work
• Involvement in team discussions to identify design solutions
• Working with other departments within a project team to provide advice and direction which ensures the quality of a
product
• Coding clearly and maintaining consistency; code should be well documented with minimal bugs
• Staying abreast of innovative emerging techniques in application development
• Working knowledge of version and source control systems
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• XHTML
• SQL Server
• ASP.NET
• C#
• OOP
• Web Services
• XML
• Unit Testing
• Knowledge of Quality Assurance processes and
methodology
• Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines and
manage time appropriately
• Experience of authoring technical specification documents
such as functional specifications
• Some commercial Application Development experience,
preferably within an agency environment
