Details
As Database Administrator you will be accountable for ensuring that day-to-day database
performance is maintained by setting and tuning system parameters and operating
environments for databases supporting website implementations.
You will assure availability by defining and managing Operational Maintenance and provide
data protection by designing and operating High-availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
You will be a real self-starter with lots of energy and possess strong interpersonal and
communication skills; have experience of managing high-value customer data and have a
commitment to improving customer satisfaction.
REPORTING TO T HE SERVICE DELIVERY MANAGER YOU’LL NEED TO ENSURE YOU’RE ON TOP OF THE FOLLOWING:
Taking full or part ownership of database assets and processes in the following areas:
• Developing new or maintain existing database solutions based on project specifications
• Manage database access and security in-line with the application design and customers requirements
• Develop, implement and maintain unit tests for supported database programs
• Resolve issues relating to database performance, capacity, replication, and distributed data
• Design physical data models and assist in translating database designs into physical implementations
• Design and implement highly available production systems
• Install and maintain database software in collaboration with the systems administration team
• Oversee backup and recovery of databases in collaboration with the systems administration team
• Develop database procedures, triggers and SQL scripts for development teams
• Manage the transition from design through development and QA testing to Production
• Monitor databases for errors and Events and resolve problems arising in when necessary
• Assist in the definition and implementation of database standards
• Support development team members in the use and review of database assets
• Effectively present database asset reviews and performance summaries to clients and other teams
• Perform work under established procedures and using existing document templates
• Ensure deliverables meet specified quality requirements and deadlines
• Works proactively with the Project Manager and Technical Lead to ensure completion of project targets
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Effective time management and prioritisation
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Database Administrator or similar role
• Full-lifecycle development
• Integrating databases and web driven projects
• Relational database analysis, design, and modelling
• Writing and tuning complex SQL including stored procedures
• Configure security and network connectivity
• Database backup/recovery and high-availability techniques
• Interpreting specs and designs for implementing project deliverables
• Provision and managing test data and assets
• Change Management and Release
