The Media School is the UK's only Centre for Excellence in Media Practice (as designated by Higher Education Funding Council for England) and is also an accredited Skillset Screen Academy. These endorsements firmly establish the School as a major training and education centre for the media industries.

Staff have professional, as well as academic, backgrounds and are engaged in practice and consultancy. Students work with industry-standard equipment and have won awards for excellence in all the main areas of School's activity. There are good placement opportunities, excellent guest speakers, high calibre visiting fellows and a range of industry accreditations.

Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in The Media School has been assessed as 'excellent' by the Quality Assurance Agency and its research in the area of computer animation has been rated 5 in the latest RAE.
