Member News: Tesco appoints Zone to social media business
Article Date: 19th Jun 2012
Supermarket giant Tesco has retained digital agency Zone to help overhaul the brand’s social media presence.
The agency will work on a number of initiatives across Tesco’s UK business, beginning with the launch of an integrated custom channel on YouTube. The appointment was made after a pitch against a number of unnamed agencies.
Zone’s team will be lead by Group Account Director Liza Wostmann, who has joined the agency from Dare, where she held the position of new business director. She will be supported by an integrated team drawn from across Zone’s editorial, creative and strategy functions.
The appointment is the latest in a string of new business successes for Zone, including new briefs from Coca-Cola, Malibu, UNICEF and Yahoo. The agency announced the integration of Zone and sister agency Public Zone earlier this year, creating a distinguished client list that includes BT, Bupa, Channel 4, Dr Pepper, The Economist, The National Trust, Powerade and The Scouts.
Jon Davie, Managing Director of Zone, said: “Tesco is a brand with phenomenal reach in both the physical and digital worlds. The organisation is full of fantastic stories, and we can’t wait to start crafting and sharing those stories across social platforms.”
Liza Wostmann, Group Account Director at Zone, said: “As brands become media owners, Zone's creative and editorial offering places us in a unique position to help clients like Tesco be constantly relevant, interesting and entertaining.”
