BIMA Member News: Greenworks Getting Users Excited About Green Technology
Article Date: 20th Aug 2008
It’s not often that I get excited about a flushing toilet but somehow or other a flash animation of just that is pressing all the right buttons.
It’s ok, I’m not a pervert. It’s just hard not to get into the ecological spirit of things once you’ve had a go on the new Greenworks website.
Greenworks, an eco-friendly solutions firm, (and daughter company of Jewson, the Builder’s Merchants) has teamed up with award-winning New Media design specialists, Cyber-Duck to create a fantastic user-friendly interface for their website (www.greenworks-energy.co.uk).
Based around an environmental super-house, users are invited to explore different eco-friendly solutions through interactive and engaging flash animations. Watch the underfloor heating system warm the property; explore the applications for water conservation in your home. Have a look for yourself: (http://www.greenworks-energy.co.uk/water-conservation.php ).
Aside from the quirky flash productions, this website has something really great going for it: It’s missing the hot, steaming shovel-full of guilt usually served up by ‘save the planet’ style sites.
Rather than telling you how your selfish lifestyle choices are murdering the planet and crippling future generations, Greenworks uses interactive diagrams to explain the personal benefits of their eco-friendly technology (and these go far further than just being insufferably smug in front of energy-guzzling friends and colleagues).
Fresh and accessible copy explains (in layman’s terms) how being energy efficient could save a household a fortune in bills, make life far more comfortable (through systems like underfloor heating) and give you that sense of enormous wellbeing.
So whether you’re a vegetarian tree-hugger or a veritable Jeremy Clarkson, you can’t fail to be impressed by this site’s fresh and sensible presentation of greener technology.
