“Ai is like fire. Scary at first but core to the very evolution of humanity.”

Matt Celuszak, Founder and CEO, Crowd Emotion and member of the BIMA Ai Think Tank

Artificial intelligence (Ai) is one of the most talked-about technologies of our time. But Ai’s present and future mean many things to many people.

Popular culture and social media have conditioned a lot of people to see Ai simply as a story of sentient robots and/or job losses. But the real Ai revolution is happening under the surface, making existing technology smarter and unlocking the power in the data that businesses have collected for decades.

In this report, BIMA’s Ai Think Tank seeks to gain a clearer picture of the true state of Ai. Contrary to media perceptions, it paints a picture of enthusiastic optimism – a belief in a world where the jobs that Ai performs are the mundane tasks that humans prefer to avoid.

Our survey reveals very low levels of negativity, tempered only by a lack of in-depth understanding, and an urgent need for new skills and the conversation surrounding Ai to catch up with the reality.

Supported by comments from many of the country’s leading Ai authorities, BIMA’s report is an essential insight into the UK’s relationship with artificial intelligence.
