The Gender Pay Gap data revealed that 8 out of 10 companies are paying men more than women with a third of businesses reporting a higher pay gap than the 18.4% national median.
But what does this all mean?
Is the data robust and, as Sam Smethers chief executive of the Fawcett Society stated, is “...a game changer.” Or does it obscure the real truth of what's going on and at it's worst create a sense of disenfranchisement that could prevent progress?

Nancy Rowe, Head of Insight of Razorfish London
Nancy Rowe is a member of the BIMA Diversity Council and she is Head of Insight at Razorfish London. Nancy is a trilingual, outgoing and optimistic strategic thinker. She’s experienced at deriving insight from both data and human understanding and has 19 years’ digital agency and client side experience, working across a variety of sectors including Charities, Consumer Electronics, Fashion, Finance, FMCG, Government, Pharmaceuticals, Retail, Telecommunications and Tourism.
Nancy is customer obsessed and entrepreneurial in terms of process, innovation and output. She is highly regarded internationally as an insight and design research thought-leader and mentor for junior strategy and insight team members. A commercially savvy, natural energy-giver, she is also responsible for growing SapientRazorfish teams and offerings.
Marie-Claude Gervais, Co-Founder of Versiti
Alongside Stephen Cribbett, Marie-Claude is Co-Founder of Versiti, a research and consultancy agency that specialises in diversity and inclusion. Over the past 20 years, Marie-Claude has produced evidence to drive change. Her clients that include most UK government departments, large charities (e.g. Macmillan, British Heart Foundation, Unicef) and some of the world’s biggest brands and organisations (e.g. Barclays, Fedex, McDonald's, EY, PWC).
Prior to joining the private sector, she was a Lecturer at the London School of Economics, teaching both Social Psychology and Qualitative Research Methods for seven years.
Originally from Montreal, Canada, Marie-Claude takes multiculturalism and equality for granted. She has two mixed-race, mixed-faith teenagers. In her spare time, she sings and wages a losing battle with weeds in her communal garden.
Laura Chamberlain, Managing Director of Now
Laura is Managing Director of Now, having previously been Head of Account Management at DLKW Lowe (now Mullen Lowe). She's worked with some of the UK's biggest brands, including Halifax, E.ON and intu shopping centres and has launched campaigns for everything from cars to baby food. Laura's also half American, a mum, a dog lover and proud to be a bit of a nerd.
Nicki Sprinz, Managing Director of ustwo London and co-founder of Ada's List
Nicki leads ustwo’s UK studio based in London. She’s a hustler, proud protester and dedicated to social justice. She co-founded Ada’s List when she was on maternity leave because working for better diversity in the creative and tech industry is her personal mission.
